Clover Roads Organic Farm
Organic Heritage Seed

We take great pride in being a certified organic farm. Situated in southern Ontario, the farm itself has been certified organic since 1995, but we have been growing, using organic principles, for roughly 28 years. Currently we are certified by OC/PRO.

Growing in harmony with nature, instead of dominating nature by artificial and synthetic controls is very important to us. Collecting seed from our open pollinated vegetables and flowers enables us to help maintain the rich genetic seed diversity found today, and is the only way to ensure that future generations may enjoy the bounty and beauty  our world has to offer.

Heritage [also known as heirloom] varieties; in particular the vegetables, are our passion. Characteristic of the heirlooms are their great flavour, their diversity, their unique colours and shapes, and their ability to adapt to any location and soil type.

Unfortunately, many of the old world varieties have been lost since the advent of hybrids. One of our goals is to find, perpetuate, and re-introduce as many of the heritage varieties we can find, to gardeners  and growers. We feel this is the easiest  way to keep some of the world's best tasting and most interesting varieties from being lost forever.

For the moment the focus is still mainly on tomatoes, although we trial numerous other vegetable varieties for following seasons.

By buying our heritage seed, you help to maintain the rich diversity and strength of the worlds seed gene pool and we thank you!

From mid June to end of October, you can visit us every Saturday morning from 9am until 1pm at the Habourside Organic Farmers' Market (formerly known as the Kerr Village Organic Farmers' Market), located at Laskeshore and Navy Street, Oakville. Once the tomato season is in full swing we have up to seventy five varieties of heritage tomatoes on our tables. Come see!

The Harbourside Organic Farmers' Market also has the highest concentration of organic farmer/vendors in the area.
